Have you checked if you are able to write a file in that folder? Maybe the problem is not GIMP related...

Hi Jill,

It seems unusual that you cannot write to your personal library. Please do the following:
1. Open terminal app
2. type: ls -alr ~/Library
3. Post the output here.

Yes. Or, what does it say about the Library folder, Application Support folder and Gimp/2.8 folder?

Hi, (had to Google this!) I pasted the command and there was a lot of information that scrolled down - this was the one for GIMP: drwxr-xr-x 3 Jill staff 102 11 Dec 19:22 GIMP

You have "opened" the terminal app correctly. You didn't type the command correctly.

You need to type "ls -alr ~/Library" without the quotes. You were missing the "ls" part.

I didn't respond since I thought you had given up on this. :)

Could you explain how tp open "terminal app" this window seems to be different
from the one I used before (I have a PhD - but not in computing!! :) It's very frustrating that this just won't work? Jill
