fuzzy select tool attribues

I used to use gimp on a regular basis and haven't in a couple years so I'm a little rusty. i remember that when i would select an item with fuzzy select i had a selectable value that would allow me to expand or retract the original selection. I'm trying to tighten up the edge around and outline of a picture. Does this make sense or am I off my rocker???
