Border around image.

I want to put a black border around a (mostly white) image so that it will stand out on a white web page. Any suggestions?

I tried the shif/click method of creating a straight line with pencil but it didn't seem to work for me. Can someone walk me through it step by step?

Thanks

I'm a newbie to Gimp but what I would do, is use the rectangle tool around your complete image... then right click on it and under edit, select stroke. This will stroke the edge of your image with whatever brush you have selected at the time. Cheers,
Dave

I believe there might also be a plugin for doing frames as well. Sorry, I haven't used Gimp in a while, nor am I any type of expert with it yet, but I do remember using it to do some frames a few months back. It makes things really simple to do.

I would also suggest you look at PixiePlus-KDE, if you are using Linux, because little things like this are really easy to do there.

Here is a simple technique that works well.

Make black your foreground color

Select a brush that matches the size of the border desired.

Switch to the rectangular secletion tool.

Select the entire image.

right mouse click on image and "Edit > Stroke"

This will stroke the edge of the image.

Enjoy your new border.

Why not just use the border attribute in your html, eg:

There is a Script-Fu plugin under ->Decor->Add Border. A dialog will ask the border width (x and y), color, and is does a beveling effect if you specify a "Delta Value on Color" > 1.

Correction that should be
->Script-Fu->Decor->Add Border.
