Does GIMP support a zoom feature that follows the mouse?

This discussion is connected to the gimp-user-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

If you move your mouse, that zoom moves around as well. It's good for precision and not having to zoom in while making selections. On top of that, you can control the cursor with the arrow keys for further precision.

Is this feature supported? If not officially, by the community?

Not that i'm aware of.

Note that operating systems often include a magnify mode.

For example, in Gnome 3 used on many Linux systems, go to the accessibility menu on the top panel and enable zoom; then, superl-alt-+ and super-alt-- will zoom in and out, and yes, it follows the mouse. You can change the keys (search for zoom in Settings and scroll down to the key bindings for Zoom in and out; Super is the Windows key on many keyboards).

So you can use this while you are in the middle of making a selection, for example.

It is not quite the same as the feature you are suggesting, though, as GIMP won't add extra detail to the magnified pixels.

Oh, I see. I forgot about this. Windows has it, too. Now it's a matter of customizing it if possible. Thank you.
