hi, I would like to know if it is possible to have a high resolution version of gimp 2.8 logo?

The logo is available in the source code archive file and in Git as an SVG file.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/plain/desktop/src/gimp.svg

You can save it and then open with e.g. Inkscape.

You can download the file here:

It is licensed CC BY-SA 3.0, and uses the Liberation Sans font for the text.
