Set default image directory in 2.8

Set default image directory in 2.8
In Gimp 2.6 I used to edit the shortcut properties to set the directory in which I wanted Gimp to start. In 2.8 that no longer seems to work - I can still edit the shortcut properties, but when I go to load an image, I don't see the directory I want. The only option I get is 'recently used', which I don't want. I have to navigate to find the directory I want,
How can I set the default directory in 2.8?
