Feature: PSD Layer effect

Hi there,

does GIMP support (native or via addon) layer effects that were added via Photoshop CS3 or CS4 within a psd file?

Tried this with the latest stable version of GIMP, all effects on layers are gone when opening a CS3 or CS4 PSD file that was build via Photoshop.

Sincerely,
Oliver Neumann

No, Gimp has no Layer effects.

Hi Tobias,

thanks for the quick answer.

Is this something that is on some agenda and if so, do you know when this feature will be implemented?

PSD support is somehow useless without layer effects as this is something, that is a commonly used feature in photoshop (at least within designers I know ;)).

Yes, something like layer effects is planed for Gimp. But even if there are layer effects in Gimp it is hard to say if we will see it in the PSD import, because Adobe provides no documentation about the file format.

Tobias

Thought that the SDK had the format specs? http://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshop/sdk/index.html

I think the license is problematic.
