josephbupe:

I'm not sure if you are aware of the installation info link you mentioned shows only the standard gimp installation.
Mine is portable one.
Therefore it doesn't work

There is no windows binary yet. We will also announce this when it is available. Have you read: http://www.gimpusers.com/gimp/versions ? Then you'd see that 2.8.10 is not a development version nor will 2.10 be. Whenever you see a odd nuber inside a GIMP version it is some kind of development version.

Thanks for clarifying that the 2.10 is a development version. After reading the explanation about the numbering sequences I also don't understand why it is given this number if it is a development version. I still am unable to find the way to download the latest stable version without an add-on toolbar and other nonsense that I don't want and don't want to risk dealing with. Can somebody tell me if there is another download place???? I went to Gimp.org and found that was just as confusing to find what I am looking for.

Why should 2.8.10 be a development version? It's in the stable branch.

I meant GIMP 2.8.10.

Sorry for the typo.

The latest stable version of the GIMP installer for Windows is indicated in the top right corner of this webpage as GIMP 2.8.8. This means they have not yet compiled for Windows users.

Note that the GIMP 2.10 is a development version and only the code is available for now.

I hope this helps.

I have been back and forth to all the various links and other pages regarding this new version, and I cannot find out where to actually download the installer. I don't understand tech speak. I do understand about the previous webpage tricking people into downloading tampered with software and add ons. Somebody please tell me where to get a clean copy of the new version. Thanks!

2.10 already? Maybe this means that they are accelerating the 2.10x release (or will it be 3.0x) for Christmas. ;)

Regardless, can't wait for the Windows build; kudos to the developers. :)

Is there going to be a MAC version soon? Since the Maverics update I haven't been able to use my GIMP?
