LGM stands for Libre Graphics Meeting – a gathering where the most important Open Source graphics applications are being represented by their developers. The primary aim is to get in contact with others and talk about future improvements. All that is done mostly through presentations.

BUT ist is not only for developers. All interested users are very welcome to get in touch with developers or just listen to the presentations of the different graphics related stuff. It is interesting and there are no costs for you!

LGM does not have huge sponsors, therefore it is important to support Open Source by donations of everyone. There is a Pledgie Campaign where you can support them!

This year LGM is taking place in my home country, Austria, specifically in its capital city, Vienna, from May 2nd until May 5th. The location is the FH Technikum Wien (Höchstädtplatz 5, 1200 Vienna – very near to the station Handelskai, which is very well reachable by means of public transport).

Among others, these programs will be represented at the meeting:

  • GIMP,
  • Inkscape,
  • Blender,
  • Krita,
  • Scribus,
  • Hugin,
  • Open Font Library

At the same time there is another gathering called LinuxWochen. So there is really plenty of open source stuff to hear and see this year!

We (devvv and redforce) will most likely be attending LGM too. And we’re looking forward to see some of you GIMPers personally ;)
