(re)move a specific collection within the same path file

This discussion is connected to the gimp-user-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

(re)move a specific collection within the same path file

Hi all,

I'm working on a graphic project with a large collection of segments within the same path.

I am looking for a way to isolate a collection of segments within the same path. Lets say, for the example attached, that I would like to delete the right half of the path, or perhaps move half of the segments to another part of the image.

How would I go about making a partial selection the path, while still keeping the integrity of that selection, and without having to manually delete each node and line-segment? I'm thinking there should be a free-hand selection tool involved in the process, but I can't figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards,

J-G

Use a plugin ofn-path-edits.py to break your path apart.

Get it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-path-tools/files/scripts/ Looks for ofn-path-edits.zip dated 2020-08-27 Unzip, put the .py in your user profile plugins folder. Read the doc in the zip for details.

A bit more: For deleting those those separated paths this plugin https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php/Layer-Tool--delete-all-visible-or-non-visible-layers-or-paths?t=1104 Saves having to use merge visible, then deleting. If you have any paths queries then the best place is www.gimp-forum.net where Ofnuts will assist.
