Can't save grapic with radius

Can't save grapic with radius
Hi All:
I'm getting back into GIMP after some time and some things have changed.
My problem is that I've done a graphic up with radiused corners. All that went OK, but when I try to save it the radiuses don't copy along with the basic graphic. The graphic ( rectangle button ) saves just fine but no radius.
Flattening doesn't do the trick.
What am I missing something?

Were the radiused corners transparent? If so then saving as a jpg (unless jpeg 2000) would use the background colour for any transparent areas. You would need to use a format such as tiff or png to keep the transparency.
