Copy wood from one pic into another

Copy wood from one pic into another
I like the way this piece of wood on a fence looks in a pic and want to use it as the background of a layer and add text over it. I'll need to enlarge it quite a bit to fit it in the area I want it. I tried the clone tool and some difficulty getting it to do what I want. What's the best way to do this?
