2.10 for XP?

Congratulations to the team on getting 2.10 out. Sadly, I can't use it as it won't install on my WinXP laptop. Where could I get a download that I could use, please?

2.10 for XP?

As Jernej pointed out, WinXP is really old and a big security risk to continue running! :(

Maybe... https://getfedora.org/ or https://www.ubuntu.com/ might be a good idea? :)

You can't - XP has been out of support for years now, and the libraries GIMP depends on require functionality that XP (and Vista) don't provide.

2.10 for XP?

Hi Jonathan,

I still have an old GIMP 2.0 on my XP-Laptop, but it is "out of order" since Win 7 64 bit on my PC.
XP is too slow and I have too much cups of coffee when waiting. If it is legally I would mail the GIMP 2.0 to you but I really don't know how to do this (107 MB)
Too big for my mailserver. If you want GIMP 2,0  I need a step-for step advice how to mail.

Have a fine day

Konrad

2.10 for XP?

If you have really old kit you could also run https://lubuntu.me a flavor of Ubuntu designed for low spec kit. If you need to still run windows programs you could also use VirtualBox ( https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads) and run XP in that environment. I run Ubuntu & Lubuntu they are great on old and new kit.

2.10 for XP?

I was going to install GIMP 2.10 for my Windows XP today and noticed the same thing: it won't install. I use Windows XP for serious work and gaming, and Ubuntu for the Internet.

Version 2.8.22 works with Windows XP. If you already haven't, it can be downloaded here:

https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v2.8/windows/

If you need tone-mapping and HDR-features introduced in GIMP 2.10, you can use a program called Luminance HDR. Version 2.4.0 is the last one supported by 32-bit Windows XP. It can be downloaded from here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/qtpfsgui/files/luminance/2.4.0/

Both installer and stand-alone application are available.
