Is a fuzzy brush and feathering redundant?

Hi,

When a tool has an option to select a brush, and also has a checkbox for "hard edges", or "feathering", does it matter if the brush is "fuzzy" or not?

Isn't a fuzzy brush and feathering redundant?

Thank you.

"Hard edge" is the same as the difference between the Paintbrush and the Pencil tool. Both are essentially the same tool but Paintbrush has Hard Edge off and Pencil has it on.

I don't see "Feathering" in any paint tool options.
