Welcome, Raul :)

Well, there's no end of things one could do in this project.

We are in the middle of switching to a new, more powerful image processing core called GEGL (www.gegl.org). So all the more significant tasks are related to that.

We also have a second big task: porting all UI from GTK+2 to GTK+3. And then there's making it possible to apply masks to layer groups which we had to postpone in v2.8 development cycle.

Of course, you could just come up with something else. Here is an up-to-date list of things that have top priority for us:

Please let us know what interests you most.

I have collected some links that could help you to get started with Gimp:

First off all, there is an "Beginner Developer's FAQ": http://wiki.gimp.org/index.php/Users:Beginner_Developer%27s_FAQ

Then there is the roadmap where you can see the bigger plan: http://wiki.gimp.org/index.php/Roadmap

3. There is a List of Gimp filters, that needs to be ported to GEGL (Nice work to get into the code.):
http://wiki.gimp.org/index.php/Hacking:Porting_filters_to_GEGL

4. Some bugs in Bugzilla (Gimps bug tracking system) have the "GNOME-love" tag. This are easy tasks for beginners. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=keywords%3Agnome-love+product%3A%22GIMP%22+

Look at all this. If you find some thing that you are interested in talk about your plans via IRC or this Mailinglist.

Happy hacking, Tobias
