Who's running gimp on amd64 ???

I am getting a dual opteron system. I shall be running debian.

Please, comment on how gimp runs in 64-bit, especially on opteron.

Any gotchas? How far behind is debian amd64 from bleeding edge features and functionality?

What do you think?

Who's running gimp on amd64 ???

I'm running GIMP on a SUSE 10 64 bit, with a processor of AMD 64 3000+ , and it works pretty well with my system. I have 512 DDR ram, and GIMP still runs fast and stable even with some applications running with it. Usually I run gimp together with amarok, firefox, frostwire and xchat.

Who's running gimp on amd64 ???

I have been running GIMP on both Gentoo 64 bit, and now on Fedora Core x86_64 installation (I admit I'm not sure whether the Gimp there is compiled in 64 bit as well, or that its doing emulation, but I'd assume it is native 64 bits), withouth any remarkable difference from running the GIMP on any other platform (Windows XP, Gentoo 32 bit).

Raymon (Muad_Dib)
