Just Plain ole text

text in my image is ugly... what can i do to make a plain ole text image and have it look as good on my web site as it does in GIMP. I am typing plain ole text, saving as jpg but its comming out blured in some areas and stripped in others... What am i doing wrong or just not doing... is there a tutorial out there for just plain text to image file...

Try using gif instead of jpeg.

Try using gif instead of jpeg.

Or PNG, provided you don't need a transparent background (hard to believe Internet Explorer *still* hasn't got that right, but there it is).

Another possibility, if the text-images are standalone (i.e. *just* text, not graphics+text) is to use sIFR. But that's off-topic since it doesn't involve the GIMP, so I'll just give you a URL:

http://wiki.novemberborn.net/sifr/

and leave it at that.
