Easily converting "grey colors" to another single color?

Is there a (relatively) easy way to convert/exchange a large number of close RGB-valued "grey colors" to one single color? This is relevant to an image with "up to 255 shades of grey", or black, or ....

In other words, is there a way to convert or exchange a "range of color" whose RGB values are close to each other, say within 1-5% (as shown by Color Picker), varying from, say, 71-121 (in the Color Wheel). I have used Color Exchange a lot, but that only works on one "shade value" at a time.

Have you tried "Select by Color" with a threshold value greater than 0 to select the grey tones and then "Fill" with the replacement color?

That's what Posterize is meant to be used for, isn't it?
