contact sheets in GIMP

One of my assignments in digital photo class is to make a contact sheet. That's an 8 1/2 X 11 printout of a page with multiple arranged images on it
are there any GIMP templates for contact sheets?

I don't know about GIMP a template but the "montage" tool, which is part of ImageMagic will do this nicely from the command line.

Actually, it already is as an attachment to bug 132532 on bugzilla.
