Yeah, AFAIK this is a one man project that uses some GIMP implementations (libraries) and wrapps them within his own application.

It looks like an interesting approach, but somehow I doubt that this is what the future of GIMP looks like. GIMP is not designed to be Paint for *ix....

Well, if there would be some OS X users who'd try to build GTK+ without the X11 dependency (see http://developer.imendio.com/projects/gtk-macosx) and then did use this GTK+ and build GIMP, we might see some progress towards a GIMP which does not require X11 on OS X.

Right now, it is rather easy to get the impression that no one does try to build GIMP - especially the current development releases or even SVN trunk - on OS X at all.

actually I'm not building against SVN, but to each and every official release. I don't think that it makes any sense if a regular user is trying to build GIMP unstable to the GTK/OS X pre alpha.

I'd love to provide my Mac for some experiments, but I think an experienced dev is needed to support this.

Anybody willing to give it a try?

Doing what you can do yourself, appears Matt Rose provided the screen shot. Looks like the build instructions will lead you thru the steps.
