16 bit color- catching the market

Hi !
I'm in love with GIMP for a loong time- however I've recently found that I HAVE to use other tools more and more to exploit my CR2. So pls share expected time GIMP could have 16 bit color with support for per-channel histogram, per-channel levels, unsharp mask, healing brush (the one 2.3.12 is great in 8bits). Denoise is not critcal (I use noiseware anyway).

best regards jakub rusiecki

This is becoming an issue on the Cinepaint mail list as well. In the last month, the issue of color support in Gimp for both depth and color management. I want color depth of Cinepaint but plug-in and file type support of Gimp.

With the growth and power of digital cameras, the move to greater color depth is important sooner than later.
