stretch picture on the basis of a 1px stipe

dear gimp users,

here is a problem i encountered often in the last year, and i didn't find a quick solution to it... maybe s.o. can help:

say we have a picture:

___________ | # |
| # |
| # |
| # |
|_#________|

and i want to stretch it by a stripe of px
___________
| | # |
| |# |
| # |
| #| |
|_#_|______|
^stripe of on px

to get a result like this:
________________
| # |
| # |
| ###### |
| # |
|_#_____________|

without getting a distortion anywhere else.

i've been loosing hours of copy-/pasting with this ;(

greets to you all ... pierre ...

Hi.
instead of pasting, you could stretch the 1px segment with the scale tool.

Depending on the size of the image, another possible solution is to save the selection of the right hand side as a brush and shift click to draw the segment with it.

cheers
