Im new to useing the program and I need help. Everytime I try to resize a image it doesn't work. When I try to make a picture bigger instead of making the picture bigger it just gives me gray checkers in the new part. What should I do? And when I try to make a picture smaller it just cuts part of it off instead of shrinking it.

Any help would be great.

You are changing the canvas size. You want to scale the image instead (right-click on image, then Image, then Scale Image).
