despckle and selective gaussian blur

hi,

if my purpose is to reduce film noise after scan, which method should i use? despeckle or selective gaussian blue? i just don't understand what's difference behind.

another question is, because i alway apply unsharp filter in the last step, i am so wondering whether the unsharp filter will counterbalance the blur effection caused by applying above metioned filters.

thanks.

Now, i would tell i would use GreyCstoration. But it is more difficult to set (and may be to compile).
Many projects now includes it : Gimp of course via plugins, but also krita and Daim, which is a XUL app.
