Q1 - An emboss effect like Photoshop

Hi !

I am new in GIMP. I use GIMP 2. Very good program, but I have a problems, because I use Photoshop before.

Q1: Have the GIMP a command or menu to create same emboss effect like in photoshop ?
(In PS when I double click in a layer, I can set special effects on it. Like shadowing, emboss (make border), etc.) I need same effect, because I want to rise the border of a layer. So I want to create an effect to raise the layer with shadowing 2 corners, and lightening 2 corners.
If anybody use PS, know it what I say about.
