halftone images exporting...

Hi, all the images I am exporting are only coming through halftone. Can anybody think of a reason why? The preview looks fine, but when it is put into our website, it comes up halftoned.

Thanks, Danielle

Not sure what you mean by halftone (well, I know what it means, but want to make sure we’re on the same page). Could you link to the image so we can see what it is?

The first two things to do:

1) check that the version exported on your PC is OK (open it in Firefox/Chrome with File>Open
2) Download the image again from the web site (right-click and "Save image", usually) and compare the two files (as a first shot, the file sizes). If they aren't identicaml, then the web site is post-processing your image.

If you export as GIF, remember that there are only 256 colors in a GIF. If you work in RGB mode, you won't be made aware of this limitation in Gimp, and you will discover it when looking at the exported image. So to avoid surprises, if you intend to export as GIF, use Image>Mode>Indexed, as least just before exporting, to have an idea of what you image will really look like as a GIF.
