Can't get GIMP to run

Have downloaded GIMP twice from the GIMP site. Downloads OK but cannot find an icon to start the program.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can't get GIMP to run

You should be a bit more specific... for example, you didn't tell us what platform you are on.

Maybe take some time, think about "What could they possible need to know to help me?", and try to anticipate some of our questions? :)

It would actually be more helpful if GIMP downloaded start icons for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, as appropriate.

For the non-pedantically challenged it means what it says: include a start icon.

Can't get GIMP to run

Start icon where? on the desktop? on the start menu under windoz? Every time I've installed it, there has been an icon in the start menu. I also never install something using the default installation mode. IIRC, doing so provides a check box for putting an icon on the desktop
