Downloaded and installed fine but did not drop the icon on Desktop; any ideas why?

The installer doesn't do that by default, because it's against Microsoft's guidelines. If you want the icon on desktop, you can either copy it from Start Menu, or run the installer again, click Customize on the first page, and check the "Create a desktop icon" option.
