Opening gallery pics on LG tablet

Opening gallery pics on LG tablet
I am trying to use Gimp on my LG tablet but I can't find the pictures in my gallery. It has an option for desktop and Sim card plus it has several file folders but I can't find my pics in any of them. Can anyone tell me where to look? Thanks!
