problems with canvas rotation

I've tried using the shift and middle mouse button as it had been suggested on various threads on the web, but I can't seem to get it working. Can anyone please explain what I am doing wrong? Also will 2.9 provide a keyboard shortcut for this feature. This is extremely vital for me to get this feature to function.

Hi,

this feature is in GIMP 2.9 (master), not the GIMP 2.8 versions - did you try with GIMP 2.9?
