Question about GIMP and SANE

Hi, all

I have a plan to develop a SANE driver for certain flatbed scanner and I'd like to know the relation between GIMP and plug-in(SANE frontend).

My Questions are:

(1)Does GIMP support 48bit Color (16bit Gray) image input from plug-in such as SANE front- end ?

(2)Does GIMP support multiple image input from plug-in ? (for example, 4 images at one scan)

No.

Yes.

I'd really like to be more specific but I don't know what exactly you are trying to do since there are plug-ins for SANE and GIMP already.
