On Mac this Option "Behavior" in the Preferences doesnt exist. Neither in version 2.8.10 nor in v. 2.8.14.

That's because we never add new features to stable releases. All new work goes into Git master.

v2.8 was released in May 2012. This feature was added in 2013.
