XCF format specification

XCF format specification

Hi,

in order to fix [bug 730211] I came across the [XCF file format specification]. While the XCF format has been in production use for years the spec is still marked as draft.
Which parts of the spec have become mandatory in between? What do we need to clarify that still justifies the draft state?

I'm not sure if it ever left draft status, and it seems like others on IRC are neither.
