I've repeatedly tried to download gimp. My machine runs Windows 8.1. All I get, is the set-up window. I click to install and finish but the software fails to install. What to do?

Is there something stopping you from installing 2.8.18?

I'm using Windows 10 and tried to install 2.8.16. But I can't do anything on it as I don't have the right Visual C++ Runtime Library (I think). Opening a small image file causes GIMP to shut down with a "Runtime Error".

Any ideas?

GIMP constantly crashing when trying to resize window. Maximize button works flawlessly, but dragging sides or corners to resize - ends up crashing GIMP. Every time. Can you do something about it, soon? THX

It crashes right when I want to resize the main window. Didn't use to do that and suddenly it does now.

@Shagbark

To change your instillation folder location, click "Customize" instead of "Install" on the instillation launcher.

As for old versions, I'd say just uninstall it before hand. If you've a special folder for your artwork/brush settings nothing should be ruined.

Thanks! I have 2 problems.
1. The installer doesn't let me change the install location, and I don't have enough room on my C drive to install it there.
2. The installer doesn't say what to do if I already have an older version of GIMP installed.

I am in my 4th hour of ever being on GIMP. I was trying to put a doll picture into another picture, made a mistake, so exited the program. When I started it up again, my right menu was gone. How do I get that menu on the right side back again???

Can you help at all? Would sure appreciate it!!

On this download page for Gimp 2.8.16 for Windows, the text description under the download link still says 2.8.14: "This is the build for Windows (32 and 64 bit) of GIMP 2.8.14".
