How to smooth a jagged line

I have drawn a line showing a coastline but it is quite a jagged line. Is there a way of smoothing the lines into flowing curves to give a much more stylised interpretation of the coast line.

Thanks.

For both questions.

For something like your example, you should get a reasonable result using Colors -> Auto -> White Balance.

This question and using your other graphic.

If you have used something like the threshold filter which has no anti-aliasing one way is.

Get a selection of the line.

Make a path from the selection

Fill the path. The path is sub-pixel and will introduce anti-aliasing

Depends on the image, there are other ways
