sun image, want to remove black
i have a sprite sheet filled with images of an animating sun. unfortunately the backgrounds are black. I want to remove the black to make it transparent. But i want to retain the gradual transparency of the corona.

i have a sprite sheet filled with images of an animating sun. unfortunately the backgrounds are black. I want to remove the black to make it transparent. But i want to retain the gradual transparency of the corona.
Give your image(s) an alpha channel Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha channel
Use Colors > Color-to-Alpha Zoom in to the image to make it easier to manipulate.
Set the color to Black,Transparency threshold to zero and adjust the Opacity Threshold to suit.
Attached example probably as good as it will ever be.
