Help I am a beginner

When I go to new and open a new box it is not a white background it is a background with small squares, how can i get to go back to a regular white background. I am lost any help will be appreciated

Best guess: The grid is showing

In the View menu untick Show Grid see the screenshot

You might want to review the default settings as well
