Gimp 2 - hexa colour bug on Windows ?

Gimp 2 - hexa colour bug on Windows ?

Hey,

I'm using the last Gimp for Windows, I'm having a problem with colour.

When applying the hexa colour #808080, then use it to paint something, but when I'm checking the colour with the picker it's not the same :/ Result is #7f7f7f

Is it a know bug (found nothing in the issues list...) ? I've tried on another computer with a Linux inside, it's ok.

There are two colour pickers in GIMP right now. One takes colours from the image, and the other from anywhere on the screen.

Try turning off view->colour management->colour-manage this view and you will probably get the same numbers, unless you are also using display filters on the image window such as Gamma.

you say there are two colour pickers in GIMP right now.

Does right now mean 2.10, or is that true for 2.8 as well? I am using 2.8 and can only find one colour picker, the one that takes colours from the image.

There are two colour pickers available in 2.8. (At least true for 2.8.22 as in the Linux Mint repository)

Both are available from the Toolbox.

The first is accessible from the "Eye Dropper" button, which can only select from the image.

The second is accessible from the overlapping Foreground/Background colour tool. When you click on either of the foreground/background rectangles a colour picker dialogue opens and that includes an eye dropper that will select a colour to use for that rectangle anywhere on the screen.

Gimp 2 - hexa colour bug on Windows ?

I've tried with both colour pickers, and turned off colour management in the options.

There are 2 differents results with the 2 pickers :x

With the picker inside the colour chooser popup : After turning off the colour management, the needed #808080 becomes a #818181 (no colour management), it was #7f7f7f before (with colour management)

If I use the picker from the toolbar, it's ok, #808080 is #808080. I don't understand why there's a difference between those 2 pickers :/

---> I'm curious, and made another test.
In parallel, I'm using Affinity Photo+Designer, and created / exported some grey+red pixels, then imported into Gimp. Results are not always the same. A really little difference, as before. Do have I to conclude there's a problem with the colour management on my windows computer ?
