[Q] source for GIMP ports

This discussion is connected to the gimp-user-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

[Q] source for GIMP ports

Hello,

I have a couple of questions:

1) Does anyone know the difference between "GIMP for Windows" and WinGimp? They seem to be two totally unrelated projects:

http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/ http://www.wingimp.org/

In the latter case, I can't find the source code and I can't find anyone I can ask. Does anyone know where I can get the source code for WinGimp?

2) Does anyone know where I can get the source code for MacGimp? Hopefully with build instructions. Again, the macgimp.com page doesn't tell me anything useful.

Thanks for the help,

From the FAQ of wingimp site:

"WinGIMP is the version referred to in this FAQ, namely the Win32 port from Tor Lillqvist."

The differences between the official gimp for windows by Tor and the wingimp project one are mainly:
- Tor's is up to date (it is a 1.2.4pre version) while the wingimp CD contains 1.2.2
- Tor's has to be downloaded, the other one is provided on a CD (although Tor's build may be found in some magazines' CD) - wingimp CD contains additional other stuff, like cliparts, tutorials, filters...
- wingimp is Free but not free, Tor's is both free and Free.

In the latter case, I can't find the source code and I can't find anyone I can ask. Does anyone know where I can get the source code for WinGimp?

Either download the source of gimp for windows at Tor's site, or contact the people in charge with Wingimp project. He has the right not to put the source available on the web site. He has the right to charge you for the price of the medium (CD) he will send you the sources, and the shipping.

2) Does anyone know where I can get the source code for MacGimp?

I think there are web sites about macgimp: http://macgimp.org/
http://www.macgimp.com
MacGimp is based on fink, I think:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/
http://fink.sourceforge.net/pdb/package.php/gimp

Hopefully with build instructions. Again, the macgimp.com page doesn't tell me anything useful.

Thanks for the help,

best regards,

Olivier.
