question regarding to print big images

Hi all,

could not find a answer to my question by browsing the gimp and gimp-print related web pages, so I hope someone from this list can help me:

I've a quite big image (png, some thousand times some thousand pixels) which I want to print. I need a way to split this image to tiles and print them seperately (like a banner, but 2D).

I could do this by selecting parts of the image manually and print the parts, but my feeling tells me that there already is a existing solution for that.

regards,

Markus
