hi, i just quit working on the site mentioned in the topic.

several people have put a lot of time and effort into working on this site. right now it is a *HUGE* security risk. the /admin section is wide open.

as things only get looked at when they need fixing, i am begging you to spam the news and such until they fix it or remove it.

gimp is a cool graphics art app. there are not many people working on it however. i am asking for your help to move both of their attention to the site i made for them.

thanks carol

Yes, gimp is a VERY cool app. Now, I use it for anything, I had made some scripts to automagicaly create my site navigation pictures.

But when I begun, Gimp seemed very difficult, for example, it's very complicated to make a circle. Or some standard shapes. I know that gimp was designed for image/photo manipulation, but there are some very basic features like the circle, filled circle that are difficult to know how to do.

In fact, I don't know how I can make a circle/elipse in gimp, so, I use the circle selection, and with layers, I just play with these. Maybe if gimp was easier to use for these basic shapes, it would be more famous for begginers who would use it for anything!

And more, if there was some video tutorial like the commercial packaged software, gimp would be easier to understand. I mean a downloadble pack which when it's launched have an "flash-like" interface which explain with some videos, examples with before and after gimp images. Then the begginer can install his rpm without video, it's only goodies! But it's could help promoting the nice piece of code that is gimp! But generrally, I think it's the big problem between free software vs commercial and begginners.

Regards, Freeze

just hold the shift key down when making the selection. i should put that on this tutorial http://carol.gimp.org/mygimp/tutorials/small_jobs/

what a great idea for some extra cash. maybe if i put that on ebay, people will see how much i love gimp.
