is there a way to edit an existing textlayer created with freetype2?

This discussion is connected to the gimp-user-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

No, there is no way with freetype. You can use the gdyntext filter if you have it, that one allows editing. For gimp 1.4 there is hope that the good rendering of freetype is mixed with the edit capabilities of gdyntext, but for the moment, nothing yet.
