cmyk and Gimp

1. Is anyone working on improving Gimp vis-a-vis cmyk formats? The literature seems to infer that Gimp is either weak or useless where cmyk is concerned.

2. Is anyone active in the area of preparing stuff for print using Gimp?

No answers received.

Can I assume then that no one is using Gimp for print publications?
