Help: Backup the preferences + "Toggle selection"

Hello!
I have two questions.

To begin with, I wonder which file from .gimp/ should I backup if I want to save all settings that I've done in the Preferences dialogue? I don't want to backup the whole directory.

Secondly, from the context menu, I can choose View->Toggle_selection, but how do I make it default behaviour to not have "Toggle selection". I can't find any setting in the Prereferences ui.
