eps images that won't load

How come GIMP fails to load these images? (Note they are zip-ed) http://www.liljeholmstorget.nu/press.html

Hey...

Because it is a .eps file and GIMP don't have support for that what it seems like.

Don't even know what a .eps file is really but it seems to not be supported by GIMP.

EPS means Encapsulated PostScript'' and you should be able to load it into Gimp. Gimp produces such files when needed.

======================
Gimp may not load postscript graphics files, I know I have not tried them yet. The file type .eps is encapsulated postscript and not many graphics programs do load them. Usually require some structured art program rather than bitmap type.

Hi Carol,

EPS-files require an additional showpage command submitted to ghostscript. This is usually done by the ps-plugin. But these binary PostScript files (I have never seen before) are not recognized as EPS-files. The plug-in is not looking at the extension. If you or Gustav are working with Linux, you can use a workaround. Create a file /tmp/gs_eps with the following content:

#!/bin/sh args=`echo $* | sed -e 's/eps -c quit/eps -c showpage -c quit/'` exec gs $args

(Note the different ` and ?). Make it executable:

chmod 755 /tmp/gs_eps

Set an environment variable in the bash:

export GS_PROG=/tmp/gs_eps

and start gimp from that shell:

gimp TORG_illustration.eps

For Windows I don't know an appropriate workaround.

Sincerely

Peter

eps images that won't load

hmm, pretty quick huh?

this guy also wrote alot of my favorite plug-ins. poking around his web site, i was wondering how many collections of photos there were out there that people had made with photo mosaic in mind.

once i tried to make a fake batch of photo mosaic ready photos by making about one hundred or so into darkened and lightend grey scale images. unfortunately, those are long gone.

sorry to ramble ... carol

Hi,

the corrected plug-in is available in source and executable for Linux/i386 at http://www.kirchgessner.net
