A Gradient of Alpha Values?

Hello,

Is there a way to create a gradient of alpha values? I'd like to have one image show through a mask in a gradual way, from the top of the image to the bottom.

Thanks, ...John

You can add a "layer mask" to the layer you want to use as a mask. Then paint this layer mask with a black to white (or white to black) gradient, and this will be a opaque to transparent gradient. Have a look here for an illustration: http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/index.html?node68.html

Regards,

Olivier.
