GIMP 2.6.9 released
GIMP 2.6.9 has been released today. Several bugs has been fixed, but, as this is a release from the 2.6 stable series, no new features have been added.
Update 24 Jun: There is a bug in GIMP 2.6.9 for Windows AND Linux that causes it to crash when using the arrows in the scroll bars of combo boxes. Use the mouse wheel or use GIMP 2.6.8.

A fix will be released soon.
