How good are you at programming?

OMG, that is nothing for me at all!

I've been coding a little bit but I'm not very fit at it

I'm pretty good at programming and would maybe be able to write a Plug-In for GIMP

I'm very good at programming and I would theoretically be able to hack for the GIMP core

GIMP 2.7/2.8 development: Feature Preview updated!

Half a year has passed since we first took a detailed look into the GIMP development version. We've now updated our preview with new screenshots and recently implemented features!

Take a look at it and find out whats going on in the current development version that will lead into the next stable version of GIMP: 2.8. It will maybe be released in mid of 2011 (but that is as always not a very sure thing).

I've always loved GIMP and recognized the potential that was contained within it.

I'd like to install this parrallel to my current stable gimp installation. I'm on ubtuntu 10.04.

Is there a guide somewhere on how to do this?

I've been googling around, but I can't seem to find a guide on how to do a parrallel installation.
