How good are you at programming?

OMG, that is nothing for me at all!

I've been coding a little bit but I'm not very fit at it

I'm pretty good at programming and would maybe be able to write a Plug-In for GIMP

I'm very good at programming and I would theoretically be able to hack for the GIMP core

GIMP 2.6.6 for Windows problems

Many users have problems with GIMP under Windows at the moment, especially with GIMP 2.6.6 under Windows Vista.

The problems are mostly related to the startup, but there are also issues with GEGL operations and the color correction filters (curves, balance, ...). These problems are often not reproducible so that a diagnosis is difficult. For this reason, there is no official solution yet.

We recommend to downgrade to GIMP 2.6.5 if you have such problems. To do so, remove GIMP using the Windows software manager and then download GIMP 2.6.5. We will notify you if we have any news on this issue.

You can find the list of know bugs at bugs.gnome.org. There you can also report your problems and so help to find a solution.

    thanks for the link to gimptalk, photocomix! the link to download 2.6.5 is already in the news - the users just need to click "download GIMP 2.6.5" - it is a direct download to the file on sourceforge!

    @devv

    i know how to find but many seems able to find only the link for the last installer.

    and to be honest the gimp sourceforge pages the first times visited look as a labirinth...

    Many even believe that there there is only the most recent installers

    @devvv: You betcha!

    @photocomix: The filehippo link I posted seems to have links for all the previous versions, although the site is not all that intuitive. Just click the link to the ver you want, then hit the download button at the top.

    Hi, Gimp 2.6.6 is stable if you use the classic theme instead of the vista aero one.

    Nope Sorry. I've never used aero, and on Vista 32, 2.6.6
    crashes every time with....

    Open PNG image (with alpha)
    Open Colours/Brightness-Contrast

    Poof!

    Thanks for the 2.6.5 link, that works a treat.

    Never considered that Aero might be a factor... I have installed 2.6.5, and have had LESS problems. Gimp still hogs a lot of memory and crashes eventually, but not EVERY time I use it like .6 did.

    I have a slight problem using gimp. See when I move the cursur within the workspace , the 'mouse' cursur moves on it's own accord. Anyone know what the problem is?
