Gimp 2.4 Scripts: 44 hot plugins for GIMP 2.4

By at 2007-11-19 15:23:35 UTC, last updated about 15 years ago. CC BY-NC License

GIMP FX Foundry is the name of a cool package of scripts for the new GIMP 2.4. The founders of the project, which has had its kickoff in early november, released their package containing 44 cool effects/Scripts/plugins for the new GIMP 2.4 on November 14th.

The package contains cool and professional scripts that are published under the GPL – so they’re all free to use! After copying the scripts to our scripts-folder there is a new menu entry to access all the scripts.

The range goes from artistic effects to professinal blur and edge detection algorithms to simple dynamic range extenders simulations (HDR), gothic glows and to several photo enhancement filters such as film grain. The package also contains the simulation of the photoshop layer effect filters (Inner Glow, Outer Glow, Pattern Overlay, Bevel and Emboss and so on – of course you know them all ;))

You can download the pack directly from sourceforge:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=208874

Have fun with the filters!

I don't know the problem you are having (you didn't specify "mess"), it is fine from this link here http://gimp.org/downloads/
it brings you straight to sourceforge.net and the correct files for XP ... I am running the same as you ... I love it ;-)

you could try gimp portable, a version that does not need to be installed, if this works its maybe a configuration problem of your system...

I am using 2.4.1 which I downloaded after the orginal version didn't work. THis one works no better. I have even completely un installed it and downloaded it again and it's still messed up. I hate to take up so much space with all these dumb questions... but I really enjoyed GIMP before I "up graded". Anyone have any more suggestions?
p.s I'm using windows xp

tested it...though it creates a new entry just below the filters...i was hoping it will write it inside the filter menu...

Though its good...

I wandered into projects stats just now and noticed a huge boost in download count. So I took to google to see what happened :D Thanks for letting other interested people know.

mustangrider: please check that you are indeed running 2.4. Many of these scripts are no longer backward compatible...there is an About menu item that tells you exactly what version you are running. If everything checks out, but the issue remains post a tracker item with complete error message.

:) I'm glad you like the pack we have put together. Check back sometimes, theres more to come ;)

@devvv

Thank you so very much for this. I was really amazed on the bundled effect/fx it can do. Saw some tremendous things happening and I will be definitely enjoying this FX Foundry stuff.

This will slowly help GIMP be put on top of against other POST-PRODUCTION apps. Its very promising. Good job to the developers/coders of FX-Foundry

Thanks again devvv.

I used the preferences to add the scripts... now there is a menu but the scripts won't work. I get error msgs' like "Plug-In 'Add Mat' left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups" I get this with all of them....

i think there is an option in the preferences where you can add folders that contain scripts...

I extracted the files and put them in gimp-2.4/scripts/folder. They don't show up. I've had problems from the beginning when I downloaded the 2.4 version.

what exactly did you do? you need to extract the file, the 44.scm-files need to be in the .gimp-2.4/scripts/ folder - that worked perfectly for me. the menu is called "FX Foundry".
